The penny was designed by Victor David Brenner. Abraham Lincoln was the first President to appear on United States coinage. The Lincoln Wheat penny was minted from 1909-1958 and shows the bust of Lincoln on the reverse and the wheat on the obverse. The coin is composed of 95 percent copper except for the mint year 1943. the 1943 Lincoln Wheat penny is composed of steel due to the copper shortage during WWII. The Lincoln Wheat penny is 19.05mm in diameter and has a plain edge. The one pound of pennies come in a canvas money bag. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
