During the late 1800's, classically trained musicians began playing a lively new music known as “band” focused primarily on improvisation in intimate settings. Acoustic guitarists utilized plectrums to increase the speed and volume of their performance; buttons and coins were readily available and initially used as the forerunner to the “picks” we know today. Many contemporary musicians such as Brian May (Queen), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Paul McCartney (Beatles) and Eddie Van Halen are widely recognized for their use of coin and/or metal guitar picks.
This guitar pick was handcrafted in Nashville by Dustin Michael Headrick of Master Artisan Guitar Picks from authentic coinage, and strictly adheres to 18 U.S. Code § 331.
