Product Information
An inspiring collectible celebrating the birth of the nation. The front of this knife's wood-grain handle frames the Silver Wartime Nickel in the stars and stripes of a waving American flag. World War II prompted the rationing of many commodities.
Nickel was highly valued for use in armor plating, and Congress ordered the removal of this metal from the five-cent piece, effective October 8, 1942. From that date, and lasting through the end of 1945, five-cent pieces bore the regular design but were minted from an alloy of copper, silver, and manganese. The Wartime Jefferson Nickel is composed of 35% silver. The obverse of the nickel shines in the wood-grain handle. The knife blade is 3" long. A stainless steel blade is not sharpened when shipped.
Includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
