The F2A-2 Buffalo fighter aircraft was constructed as a carrier-based fighter and fought in several theaters of World War II. Considered the champion of the Finnish Air Force, it was rebuilt for air-to-ground operations. Soviet biplanes and monoplanes feared the F2A Buffalo during the Winter War in 1939 between Finland and the USSR. This fear was grounded on the Suomi pilots exceptional flight training. Many Suomi aces started out flying F2A Buffalo fighter aircrafts, including the most famous of them the renowned Eino Ilmari Juutilainen. Aside from the Finnish, the Dutch and the British were also known to use F2A Buffalos.
