Created by Lockheed Martin, the robust HC-130H Hercules is a military transport aircraft primarily used the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard. This aircraft has the capability of taking off and landing on rough runways, making it a versatile aircraft for hauling cargo and medical evacuation. The development of the Hercules was an offshoot from the US Forces experience during the war when aerial transportations were incapable of fulfilling the missions assigned to them. Hulking and unwieldy, most of the transport aircraft required lengthier runways. Thus, the Hercules was born. In addition to its transport and medevac roles, the Hercules is also utilized as a gunship, aerial refueling, and search and rescue aircraft. Its stubby airframe allows it to transport various supplies for its missions. The HC-130H Hercules is still in active duty.
