Checkers is one of the oldest games in the history of man. Abraham Lincoln played checkers with his sons at the Soldier's Home a cottage retreat and was a great competitor. The Lincoln Checkers Set is composed of Lincoln Wheat Ear pennies and Lincoln Steel pennies in plastic capsules and a red and blue game board. The game board features the face of Lincoln honoring his love of the game. There are 12 Lincoln Copper Wheat Ear pennies minted from 1909 to 1958 with the exception of 1943 and 12 Lincoln Steel pennies minted in 1943 due to the shortage of copper in WWII. Enjoy playing one of the oldest games in man's recorded history with a touch of American competitiveness and spirit. And as you peer down at the game board remember honest Abe would never cheat. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
