In 1982 the Lincoln Penny composition changed to copper-plated zinc. The US Mint decided to change the composition of the penny due to the rise in the cost of copper. The first copper-plated pennies in 1982 were minted at West Point Mint without a mint mark. The complete new composition series beginning with 1982 is displayed in a 6 x 8-inch collector style portfolio. The set includes the 2009 bicentennial series displayed in reverse. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
