In 1982 the Lincoln Penny composition changed to copper plated zinc. The US Mint decided to change the composition of the penny due to the rise in cost of copper. The first copper plated pennies in 1982 were minted at West Point Mint without a mint mark. The complete new composition series beginning with 1982 is displayed in a 6 x 8 inch collector style portfolio. The set includes the 2009 bicentennial series displayed in reverse. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
