USA Quarter Coin Guitar Pick (Years)

$22.99

In StockIn StockOut of stock

Choose your custom year from 1965-2020! Years 1965-1998 will have the Washington date front (heads) and classic Eagle reverse (tails), years 1999-2020 will be created from the “America the Beautiful” series and feature the new Washington front (heads) and various American states/parks/landmarks mini-date reverse (tails).

During the late 1800s, classically trained musicians began playing lively new music known as “band” focused primarily on improvisation in intimate settings. Acoustic guitarists utilized plectrums to increase the speed and volume of their performance; buttons and coins were readily available and initially used as the forerunner to the “picks” we know today. Many contemporary musicians such as Brian May (Queen), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Paul McCartney (Beatles), and Eddie Van Halen are widely recognized for their use of coin and/or metal guitar picks.

Note: Because these coin guitar picks are handcrafted from actual quarter-dollar coins, they are slightly smaller than a standard plastic guitar pick.

This guitar pick was handcrafted in Nashville by Dustin Michael Headrick of Master Artisan Guitar Picks from authentic coinage and strictly adheres to 18 U.S. Code § 331.

About the Artist: Dustin Michael Headrick is a 3rd generation music industry professional, born and raised in middle Tennessee; his family has been involved in the music industry since the 1940s, most notably in the original country music scene from the Louisiana Hayride to the Grand Old Opry, and the early days of Nashville's music business industry. His grandfather, Ed Hamilton, was the KWKH disc jockey broadcasting the Louisiana Hayride featuring such early greats as Elvis Presley, Hank Williams Sr., The Browns, Kitty Wells, Willie Nelson, Floyd Cramer, Hank Snow, Faron Young, George Jones, Johnny Cash, and Bob Wills. Ed Hamilton moved his family to Nashville in the 1950s and tirelessly worked for decades as a “hit-maker” for several major record labels and radio stations; most notably WSM 650, broadcasting the Grand Ole Opry and Nashville Speedway. Carrying on their father's legacy, Ed Hamilton's children and in-laws continued in the Nashville music business as producers, engineers, and musicians supporting the most famous and influential artists in music history.

Dustin Headrick is a prolific multi-media artist, musician, songwriter, producer, and pic smith, primarily focusing on his Nashville media company and Master Artisan brand of artisan products, and is best known for his finely handcrafted guitar picks which he creates using antique metals, coins, wood, bone, horn, and shell, widely recognized and branded. Current clients include The Franklin Mint, The US Mint, and a multitude of other major companies, US States, museums, and attractions around the world.
